Ex-student, now West End actor John Heffernan visits Anglo European School

We were pleased to welcome back an ex-student, now West End Actor John Heffernan to the school to unveil the Artsmark Gold Plaque which the school was recently awarded. He was joined by students who are arts ambassadors for their year group and answered questions from budding actors!

The visit coincided with the Year 11’s last day in school before their study leave begins for GCSE’s, John attended the Leaver’s assembly and was invited to speak to the year 11’s which was very much enjoyed by all, he took questions from the students and caused a stir when he revealed he would be appearing in the forthcoming new series of the hit TV show ‘Luther’ also starring Idris Elba, John then presented those students who achieved distinction in their Citoyen Diplome with their certificates.

After a successful visit, John left the school to return to London and the Vaudeville Theatre in the West End where he currently stars in the lead role of the play “Oppenheimer”.

Following the leavers’ assembly, the year 11 students celebrated with a leavers’ lunch at the Ivy Hill hotel, below is a link to a photo gallery of photos taken by the Brentwood Gazette: http://www.brentwoodgazette.co.uk/pictures/Photo-Gallery-Anglo-European-School-Leavers-Ball/pictures-26464875-detail/pictures.html

Anglo European hold their own Mock Election!

On Thursday 7th May 2015, students took part in a mock election. The results reflect the schools wide diversity of views which have hopefully been debated among students as well as staff over the last few days. Apart from four Year 7 forms away on foreign visits, every single form participated in the voting procedure, giving Anglo European a 100% turnout rate which is an achievement itself. The results were as follows :

Conservative – 288 votes = 28%

Green Party – 205 votes = 20%

UKIP – 117 votes = 12%

Liberal Democrats – 73 votes = 7%

Spoilt Ballot Papers – 8 votes = 1%
