On Tuesday 16th July, Year 8 students performed Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet at The New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich to great reviews. The students had been nominated as excellent students of English and Drama and Miss Revett and Miss Jones have worked tirelessly over the last 7 months to direct a polished performance with these very dedicated thespians.
This project came about as a result of Anglo European School now being an Associate Royal Shakespeare Company School which is a tremendous privilege. It has meant that staff and students have had the opportunity to work alongside RSC Directors and perform alongside other RSC schools, including primary and special schools which has made the project even more unique and special.
Mrs Bardo, who accompanied the group to the theatre said “the final performance was heart-warming and a celebration of diversity, love of the theatre and humankind. It was truly uplifting and rewarding. Our students loved every minute.”
Miss Revett who directed the performance added, “The students involved have been truly committed to this project from start to finish. An RSC Practitioner commented on their insightful creativity and imagination, which in turn enabled them to have a tremendous stage presence. They acted as ambassadors to the school and showcased the amazing talent we have here at the Anglo.”
