Jodie Chandler-Leatt is about to take part in the 10th International Language and Culture Festival in Turkey alongside 1,500 students from 135 different countries.
To get to this stage, Jodie took part in the U.K. final of this competition known as the ‘Turkish Olympiad’ and won in her category of best song sung in Turkish by a non Turkish national.
Jodie first participated in this competition a year ago when her friend Betul Ozcan persuaded her to take part. Betul, whose parents are Turkish, helped Jodie with the Turkish language and pronunciation and ensured that she was fully prepared for the competition. ‘We are really proud of both Jodie and Betul ’ said Jill Martin Co-Headteacher of the Anglo European School .This is a real testament to the ethos of our school where language and culture are celebrated. The girls’ friendship and Betul’s own enthusiasm for her national language has brought about this achievement. We wish them well for the International competition.
