British Biology Olympiad success for Anglo students

Congratulations to students who entered the British Biology Olympiad, which challenges and stimulates students with an interest in biology. It enables students to demonstrate their knowledge and to be suitably rewarded with publicly recognised certificates and medals. The competition consists of two, 45-minute multiple choice papers to be taken online under staff supervised exam conditions. Top scoring students will be offered the opportunity to attend an award ceremony in London. Two of our students, Joshua Creese and Izabela Turner received the Bronze Medal, one received the Highly Commended Award and the remaining students received the Commended Award. Mrs Beard, Upper Sixth Year Leader, and Biology teacher said “This is a fantastic achievement as the test is extremely rigorous and statistically to give you an idea of our students achievement, 9465 students took part in the exam this year from 727 schools worldwide. Out of which, only 14.9% achieved a bronze medal award, 16.8% achieved a Highly Commended award and 18.5% achieved a Commended award. Just another fantastic achievement that shows the hard work and commitment of our young people. They did tremendously well and should be very proud of themselves.”
