Ofsted Report 2017

We are very pleased to send you a link to our recent OfSTED report which will go live on their website on 25th April.

We were delighted with the outcome and it has given us the most positive endorsement of our distinctive ethos and provision that OfSTED have ever given us, recognising our “deep, rich” curriculum as being “exceptional”, which prepares students effectively for a globalised world. Our Sixth Form has once again been rated “outstanding”, for what is now the sixth consecutive inspection. We are one of only three schools in Essex to have achieved this under the current OfSTED schedule. Leadership and Management, safeguarding, enterprise education, and personal development and welfare have also all been judged ‘outstanding’. In addition, they recognised that student outcomes, in terms of examination results, were outstanding and noted particularly the unique educational experience our students gain through the extensive extra-curricular offer, language provision and visits programme.

The lead inspector, Sean Harford (also Director of Education for OfSTED) described the school as providing “a great education” and recognised the school’s resilience, courage and determination in maintaining our distinctive provision for over 40 years, in the face of so many external, political and financial pressures.

All inspections give us food for thought and this is no exception. Our planning and development for the next three years will focus on those issues we have already identified and that this report has verified. We are the school we are because we are not complacent. We look forward to working with our staff, students and parents in the coming years to continue the work of this very distinctive school of which we should all be justly proud. Thank you for your support during the inspection; the parental and student voice was strong, reflected your on-going commitment to its ethos and vision and was very much appreciated.
