On Thursday 5th of December all of Year 8 had a day off timetable and created sustainable cities of the future. They work independently in teams and organised themselves to plan, design and create a sustainable city. This was a cross curricular day, where Geography lessons were linked to their science lessons. The city had to be environmentally friendly, inclusive to different social groups and economically viable. Students had to explain how sustainable their city with labels, posters and presentations to their peers. Students then voted for the most successful sustainable city in their class.
The best two will be awarded prizes by the head of year in assembly. Students enjoyed being given the time to be creative and to work together to find realistic and imaginative solutions to the major problems facing us in the twenty-first century.
