Year 7 Parents’ Information Evening

Dear Year 7 Parents/Carers

Welcome to our Year 7 Virtual Parent Information Evening. Normally we would be meeting you in person in the Main Hall, talk you through some key information about how you can support your child through what will be an important year in their educational development. Unfortunately, due to infection control measures, we are unable to have such gatherings on school site so we hope this goes some way to provide the same information in an accessible form.

The films provide you with information about the Year 7 curriculum, assessment and guidance on how we are supporting students’ health, well-being and safety.

We have been incredibly impressed with the way in which Year 7 have settled to academic life at secondary school. A recent survey conducted with all Year 7s shows an overwhelmingly positive response where they appear to be enjoying their learning, building supportive relationships with their teachers and peers and understand the importance of the health and safety measures in school and how to comply with them. The staff at Anglo are very aware that this is a very anxious time for all our students. We are working hard to support them get on track with their learning, feel in control of the curriculum and confident about approaching their assessments, whilst looking after their physical and mental health.

You can help in so many ways too. Your support in providing a quiet, well-resourced place to study, access to books, IT and resources and spending time learning with them, testing their knowledge and helping them develop their reading and wider vocabulary is invaluable. Please look at the Year 7 curriculum maps on the website which give you lots of information about what your child is studying and what wider reading would help them.

Should you have any concerns about how your child is coping with the return to school, please do not hesitate to contact their tutor or Year Leader to discuss your concerns. The health and well-being of our students remains our primary concern.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Gee and Mr Barrs Headteachers
