After significant consultation with universities, examination boards and teaching staff, the school has taken the decision that Linear A Level students at the Anglo European School will not sit any addtional external AS examinations alongside their existing Linear courses. This decision is based upon our experience as a school of having set and moderated internal mock examinations at the end of the Lower Sixth year, and mid-way through the Upper Sixth year for IB students for nearly 40 years. We believe that our internal examination system therefore provides sufficient academic rigour and consistency to produce accurate predictions to be used in the UCAS application process. Our internal examinations will use a combination of specimen examination material and past papers provided by examination boards, marked in accordance with approved mark schemes. We believe this decision gives our teaching staff more classroom time to focus on the key skills relevant to the A Level curriculum and to prepare them more effectively for their final examinations at the end of the Upper Sixth.
