Progress Report by Mrs Miller, Business Manager and Director of Finance
As many parents and students will already be aware, construction work on our exciting new school development began in earnest over the summer holidays. All temporary accommodation units have now been successfully installed on site.
The final portakabin for this phase arrived on Friday 4th September, completing an impressive programme of work that saw 12 modules relocated and a further 86 modules delivered and installed. This includes 60 modules forming the teaching block, 8 modules for the administration block, 2 modules for SEN provision, and 16 modules providing office and welfare facilities for Kier Construction, who are managing this build. At the end of the day on Friday 4th, we saw the departure of the huge crane that has been a regular visitor for the last 6 weeks.
Parents may also notice that cones and some temporary traffic management measures around the surrounding school have now been removed. These helped manage traffic and kept the surrounding area safe whilst big units were transported onto site.
Mrs Gee, Mr Seager and Mrs Miller will continue to undertake regular site visits throughout the build to monitor progress closely and ensure that the project remains on track. Mrs Gee also met with Councillor Lesley Wagland, representing the local community, to discuss the development and ensure that communication remains open and constructive throughout the construction period with local residents.
