Timetable construction – the timetable is constructed from the provisional choices of our students working on a ‘best fit’ model which aims to ensure that as many students as possible get their first choice of course combinations. Where this is not possible extra course counselling takes place from March onwards to discuss alternative options.

Monday 30th June and Tuesday 1st July 2025 – Lower Sixth Induction Days: The chance to meet new peers and Form Tutors, along with guidance regarding the skills needed to be a successful Sixth Form student. Please make a note of this date in your diary as this is a compulsory requirement for entry to Sixth Form.

Thursday 21st August 2025 – GCSE results day and final Course Counselling for existing and new students to confirm course choices. Students who just miss the matriculation requirements may be asked to attend an extended Course Counselling session afterwards, once we have sought advice from Heads of Subject.

External students interviews – we will endeavour to interview new students joining our Sixth Form within three weeks of receiving their application.

Further advice:

Visit other schools and colleges – make sure this is the right Sixth Form for you by making an informed choice
New applicants – join one of our morning tours to find out more about our unique school
Speak to siblings, friends, teachers about possible choices – if in doubt, ask!
Notify us of any changes to your application or withdrawals
Note up to 25% of the Lower Sixth are new to AES and fit into our welcoming and interesting Sixth Form extremely well
GCSE Resit English and Maths: If a student matriculates for our Sixth Form but achieves a grade 3 or 4 in one of their English courses or Maths, then the school will pay for their November resit entry. Students will be offered resit classes to support their preparation for the exam. If students achieve above a grade 4, but still wish to resit, then students must pay for their first and all subsequent entries. A resit support class is not guaranteed. If students would like to resit more than once, then they must pay. A resit support class is not guaranteed.
