National Year of Reading 2026

The Anglo European School Library is very enthusiastic to be part of the Government initiative for the National Year of Reading 2026. We are planning an exciting year of themed displays and activities.

We all recognize the benefits of reading, it expands minds, builds confidence and fuels creativity. Yet with more distractions and less time, reading for pleasure is in decline across many groups. Instead of asking students to “find time to read”, Go All In brings reading to them, through their passions. It’s about showing that reading isn’t a separate world; it’s the heartbeat of culture itself.

Displays will be aimed at students' passions,  whether it be football, music, film, gaming, nature or fashion as the spark that brings reading to life.  When students see that reading connects to who they are and what they care about, motivation follows naturally.  By starting with passions, not pressure, we are hoping to create a stronger, more connected reading culture across the school and the wider community.

We are lucky to have a large and diverse library full of both stories and non-fiction however we welcome our students to suggest new topics that we don't already cover in our library.
